Happy Hump Day! Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week and then Christmas next month?! Where has this year gone? This weekend I will be putting up the Christmas tree, but I will refrain from turning it on until after Thanksgiving. We have a few interactive Hallmark ornaments that my 3 yo DD is excited to get out. She especially likes the Grinch by the refridgerator one. So I have a dilemma...we normally like colored lights on our tree and yesterday I bought a pre-lit fake tree(gasp to some of you I know, but I grew up on fake trees) but it has clear lights and doesn't come in colored lights. So my question then becomes do I just go with the clear lights, replace the clear lights with colored ones, or go redneck and mix colored and clear? My tree doesn't have a theme, it is just ornaments picked up here and there. This year I'll probably have the kiddo make some ornaments for gifts to the grandparents.
For my card I used Get Sketchy #14 for the layout. I pulled papers from my scrap bin. I think the blue and brown glittery papers are from last year's My Mind's Eye and the red is a strip of this year's October Afternoon. Th image is Lily Hot Cocoa from Pink Cat Studios. She is a digital image and I colored her up with my copics. I added diamond stickles to her coat trims. The sentiment is from The Greeting Farm Keep Cozy set. I also used my swirls cuttlebug embossing folder to make the swirl background paper behind Lily. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!Wednesday, November 18, 2009

This is is beautiful, Mary! LOVE the rich color combo on this and your coloring is fantastic!
Your card is so cute and cozy! The elements you chose are perfect! I say leave the non-colorful lights up on your tree! I have the same one. I think they'll showcase your ornaments more!
OH HOW PERFECTLY LOVELY, WARM, and COZY!!! These papers are gorgeous! I love the embossed and distressed paper behind her .. and she is a doll!!! Wonderful card!!!
OK, So I am old fashioned and do not do a "pretty themed tree" So I guess I will go all redneck all over mine! lol!!! :) HA!!! Have a great one!
I love cards with glitter on them! You do it so well. I find it so difficult to work with. I need a lesson from you! ;)
Well, I say GO REDNECK! We don't have a themed tree either. The more lights the better, and the more craziness and homemade stuff the more fun for the kids - which is all that matters! {{big hugs}} to O!
Hee hee ADORABLE~~
Cute Cute CUTE!!! I love the paneled background and your distressing!! Gorgeous!
We have a pre-lit tree that we bought last year that has white lights. We added some strands of colored lights to it and it looked beautiful! So, redneck or not, I say add the colored lights. Kids like colored lights better anyway.
Love the glitter, Mary! And what a beautiful use of paper scraps. I always save mine, but rarely use them. I think that's going on my New Year's list. LOL.
We've only ever had fake trees, too, and when they're prelit, what's not to love? LOL on the "redneck" lighting mix. You can't go wrong with white.
((((HUGS)))
I love the warm rich colors and her little red coat just glows!
Lovley Card! Yummy papers!!!
Your card is just darling! I love the mix of scraps.
I think you should just leave the clear lights. Will save you time and energy. :) And I like fake trees too!
This is fantastic Mary!
I can smell the hot chocolate from here.
Love how you did the fur on her coat.
o Mary, I love the image and your choice of papers...
mmm coco - makes me realize that winter isn't all bad! Love your card...
AWW this is so wonderful, LOVE this, your warm colors are perfect witht the cocoa!!!
I Love how you've mixed the papers on this! You really have a way with that!!! It's Redneck to mix white and colored lights?!? I've done that for years - white on the inner part and colored on the outer - it seems to make everything look fuller! But then again, I am originally from Arkansas! :-)Traci
Love the papers you used and the colors, it just screams winter! Wonderful job!
Mary, your images are so beautifully colored. I just love them! What a terrific use of scraps. I'm going to have CASE this!
I can so relate to you on the Christmas tree thing. When we lived in NW Wash. near Seattle we always had a fresh tree....Loved the gorgeous fragrance. But when we moved to the Arizona desert near Tucson we were afraid a real tree would dry out too fast so we went with the artificial trees. We have collected so many ornaments over the years that we have two trees. One is a 9' tree with clear lights and every kind of ornament imaginable. The other is a 6' multicolor light tree that has a remote to change the lights to various combination of colors or all colors. That tree has a theme: flight. The ornaments are from my DH's collection of Hallmark Star Wars, Star Trek and other airplanes and space craft and birds!
Gorgeous take on the sketch!
Thanks so much for playing!
OMGoodness...chock full of sweetness...love it!!!!
Thanks for joining us over at Get Sketchy!
