Farm Fresh Friday Sketch #3 - Meet Megan

Happy Friday all! Today is Farm Fresh Friday at The Greeting Farm. This week we have a sketch for you and here is my inspiration card. A little story...my first serious hobby right out of college was hand-quilting not too long later I was able to purchase a sewing machine that really allowed me to whip up projects. Well ever since my DD was born three years ago my machine just sat next to my project table because I needed a hobby where I could have completion gratification within a 2-3 hour time frame instead of 2-3 months, that is when I turned to making cards. I didn't really start getting serious about the hobby until a 1.5 years ago. A few months ago, two of my very talented girlie friends started sewing on their cards. Miss Sandra uses her machine and Miss Kadie does hers by hand. I really loved the look and decided I would start doing that on my cards too. Well while I was working on my Meet Bree peek earlier in the week, my sewing machine decided that it was going to put out poor quality stitches. It was a struggle to get that card done and I knew my FFF card was going to need sewing. So I combined machine with hand sewing on today's card. I used the machine to make the holes and then I hand sewed the rest with thread and a needle. It was actually kind of relaxing but took a loooooong time. My sewing machine goes in for a cleaning and tune up on Saturday but that means I will be without my machine for at least a week. When life gives you lemons make lemonade right? I really do like how the sewing on the card turned out though. The Martha Stewart edge lace punch was a pain to use. It absolutely would not punch through PTI cardstock, it was a struggle to get it to even punch through the Georgia Pacific cardstock I used on the card, but worked beautifully on thin paper. I colored this cutie up with copics and paper pieced her clothes. Notice the sentiment? It is part of a sentiment set that will be released tomorrow August 1st called Hello Go-rounds. This set will perfectly complement your TGF creations. Speaking of creations please join us tomorrow for biggest and best blog hop ever to celebrate TGF's one year Anyaversary. Not only are there going to be DT creations for you to drool over, but tons of amazing inspiration by TGF fans too. Also a total of 8 new releases will be available in TGF Store. Oh my goodness, I LOVE this card! You are a very resourceful and persistant person, I am not sure I would have stuck with it as long as you did but I am glad because it turned out wonderful. Funny about the sewing story too, I turned to card-making for the very same reason.
